I am a Republican educator – an uncommon combination. Since moving to Arizona over 25 years ago, I have devoted my professional life to making Arizona a quality place to learn, work and prosper. With experience in both the private and public sectors, I understand how both a vibrant business environment and a top-quality education system impact our families, our economy and Arizona as a whole.
First elected in 2010, I have a track record of sponsoring legislation that solves ‘real-life’ problems, making me one of the most effective legislators at the Capitol. As your state legislator, I have worked to streamline government, improve the economy, encourage job creation, reform education and balance the state budget through responsible spending measures.
After graduating from Arizona State University with a degree in communication, I completed a master’s degree in educational technology and have since received my doctorate degree in education leadership from Northern Arizona University.
Currently, I am a clinical associate professor. During my time at ASU, I helped organize the Office of Innovation and Partnerships in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, which created the education-entrepreneurship program and education reform initiatives. I was also a seventh grade teacher in the Paradise Valley Unified School district where I taught middle school English and social studies. Before teaching, I worked for several local companies like KOOL-FM, the Phoenix Suns, and Wallace Laboratories. Having worked for both small businesses and corporate employers, I understand the important role that companies of all sizes play in our economy. I hope to continue to serve as your state representative to help put Arizona on the “fast-track” to economic prosperity for the twenty-first century.
My family and I live in north Phoenix.
